Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT empowers you to live meaningfully, even in the face of complex and challenging thoughts and emotions. You can build your desired life by accepting what you can’t control and taking committed action toward your values. With the help of a trained therapist, you will learn to separate yourself from your thoughts, reduce emotional distress, and embrace positive change.
Example 1
A client with social anxiety learns to observe anxious thoughts without judgment and commits to attending small social gatherings to build confidence.
Example 2
Someone with chronic pain practices mindfulness to accept discomfort while engaging in meaningful activities.
Coping Strategies
I use cognitive defusion to help clients view thoughts as passing mental events. Instead of saying, “I’m not good enough,” we reframe it as “I’m having the thought that I’m not good enough,” which reduces its emotional grip.
